Co-Owners of Columbia Valley Wine Lab
Since 2022
Quinton brings a deep academic and professional foundation to Columbia Valley Wine Lab. A proud graduate of the University of Idaho (B.S. Food Science) and Washington State University (M.S. Food Science), his local roots are matched by extensive experience across the beverage industry.
Quinton began his career at E&J Gallo in Modesto, where he conducted research to support winemaking teams, specifically vetting yeast strains for fermentation efficiency and sensory contributions. He then moved to Rogue Brewery as the QA/QC Director, where he built a quality program nearly from the ground up. By iterating on control plans and working directly with production, he helped the company realize significant savings and product consistency through improved process control.
Before founding CV Wine Lab, Quinton served as the Microbiologist for Ste. Michelle Wine Estates. This role allowed him to modernize the routine testing done there while collaborating closely with winemakers to understand the nuances of their craft. Today, he uses this "process-first" perspective to provide wineries and breweries with the technical confidence they need to protect their brands.

A graduate of the University of Idaho with a degree in Physical Education, Ruthie brings a natural "heart of a teacher" to the lab’s operations. Before co-founding Columbia Valley Wine Lab, she built and led successful teams within Mary Kay, where she developed the leadership, discipline, and customer-first mindset required to manage complex business environments.
As Office Coordinator, Ruthie translates that leadership into the daily management of the lab’s logistics. She oversees the business administration and leads the coordination of sample pickups and courier routes, ensuring the logistical side of the business is as precise as the analysis itself. Her focus is on providing clear communication and efficient service, helping producers across the Pacific Northwest navigate their testing needs with confidence. She also has to deal with Quinton on a daily basis.
